Can you still get private health insurance in Jacksonville? Yes — and Northeast Florida is home to the state's #1-ranked hospital, Mayo Clinic Florida. But 2026 Florida rates rose a weighted average of 31.5% statewide right as the enhanced federal subsidies expired, and many lower-cost plans leave out the hospitals Jacksonville residents want most. We compare private medical plans side by side with HealthCare.gov marketplace coverage — here is how the Jacksonville market actually looks this year.
We help individuals, families, and self-employed residents across Northeast and North Central Florida — not just the city of Jacksonville. Plans, prices, and networks change by county and ZIP code, so we quote every option available at your exact address:
Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach and Baldwin.
St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, Orange Park, Fleming Island, Fernandina Beach and Yulee.
Gainesville and surrounding communities served by UF Health Shands.
Hospital access matters wherever you live. Depending on the plan, residents may want Mayo Clinic Florida, Baptist Health (including Wolfson Children's), UF Health Jacksonville, Ascension St. Vincent's, Nemours Children's and UF Health Shands in Gainesville in network — we check your doctors and preferred hospitals against each plan's current network before you enroll.
For 2026, the Jacksonville market draws from Florida's deep carrier bench, led by Florida Blue (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida), which is headquartered in Jacksonville, plus national and regional carriers such as Oscar, Molina, UnitedHealthcare, Simply Healthcare/Wellpoint, Sunshine State Health Plan, AmeriHealth Caritas and Ambetter, with availability varying by county. Aetna exited the individual market nationwide for 2026.
Searching for "insurance for Mayo Clinic Jacksonville," "private insurance that covers Mayo" or "a plan that accepts Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville"? Northeast Florida has three of the state's top-ranked hospitals within easy reach, and network access varies sharply by plan. Private PPO plans with national networks can open access to more of these hospitals than a narrow HMO.
Ranked #1 in Florida and nationally ranked in nine adult specialties. Mayo accepts some health plans but not others, and participation can differ plan by plan — not just insurer by insurer.
One of Florida's top-ranked hospitals and the flagship of Baptist Health in Northeast Florida, alongside Wolfson Children's Hospital.
Ranked #3 in Florida — North Central Florida's academic medical center and referral hub for complex adult and pediatric care.
The University of Florida's Jacksonville academic medical center and the region's Level I trauma center.
A long-standing Jacksonville system with hospitals in Riverside, Southside and Clay County.
Pediatric specialty care in Jacksonville, working closely with Wolfson Children's.
Whether these systems are in your network depends entirely on which plan you choose — and it changes year to year. Before you enroll, we verify your doctors and preferred hospitals against each plan's current network so there are no surprises.

With the enhanced federal subsidies expired and rates up sharply, many Jacksonville households are paying full price for the first time. Your exact premium depends on your age, ZIP code, and household size — which is why we quote every carrier and every route to coverage before recommending anything.
Traditional marketplace and off-exchange plans are not the only route. Many Jacksonville residents — especially the self-employed, independent contractors, healthcare, logistics and military-connected workers, and small-business owners — also qualify for true employer-level group coverage regulated under federal ERISA and Department of Labor rules. Qualifying as a bona fide employee takes only a few basic requirements — full-time work is not required — and pre-existing conditions are covered, just as with any employer group plan. You get the same kind of group PPO coverage large employers offer, with nationwide networks like Cigna, Multiplan/PHCS, Aetna, First Choice Health, and in some states Blue Cross with national Blue Card, and enrollment is open year-round, not just during open enrollment. Availability is subject to eligibility. Call us to see if you qualify.
The honest answer: it depends on your subsidy and your hospital. If you qualify for a meaningful premium tax credit and your doctors are in network, a marketplace plan through HealthCare.gov is usually the better value. If you get little or no subsidy, or the plans you can afford leave out Mayo Clinic or your specialists, an off-exchange private medical plan or employer-level group coverage frequently wins on network, price, or both. Mayo Clinic Florida accepts some health plans but not others, and participation can differ between plans from the same insurance company. Many narrow-network HMO and EPO marketplace plans don't include it. We check which marketplace and private PPO options at your address include Mayo Clinic before you enroll.
Baptist Health participates with selected plans, and networks change every year. Give us your preferred hospital and doctors and we'll compare the plans that include them.
Some plans include both UF Health Jacksonville and UF Health Shands, and others don't. If you may need care in Gainesville, tell us and we'll check each option's network before you enroll.
Yes. Beyond on- and off-exchange marketplace plans, we also offer exclusive private, employer-group (ERISA) PPO options with nationwide networks. These plans aren’t published on the public marketplace, enrollment is open year-round, and availability is subject to eligibility. Call us to see if you qualify.
Yes. Every ACA-compliant private plan covers pre-existing conditions — no medical questions, no exclusions. ERISA employer-level group plans cover pre-existing conditions as well, just as with any employer coverage.
Yes. We help residents throughout Northeast and North Central Florida, including St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra Beach, Orange Park, Fleming Island, Fernandina Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Gainesville. Everything is handled by phone and online, so there's no need to visit an office.
